The 19-year-old phenomenon, Victor Wembanyama, led Metropolitans 92 to the finals of the French championship, where they fell 0-3 to superior Monaco, and now he embarks on his American dream.

“I would like him to play a lot since the Olympics are coming right after. I think he wants it too. The World Cup will be a springboard for his launch. The experience will prepare him as best as possible for his entry into the NBA,” Mets and France national team head coach Vincent Collet said.
The experienced coach believes that Wembanyama could benefit from competing at the World Cup.
“I hope we can work with the Spurs. We already knew them and were congratulated by their general manager as well. It’s important to him because he’ll have the opportunity to play with many of his future NBA opponents. This couldn’t be done in France. At his age, you can’t replace experience from matches in any other way,” Collet added.
