After helping Puerto Rico get qualification for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, Jose Alvarado hasn’t been included in the national team’s 14-man extended roster for the most anticipated International competition of the year.

The 25-year-old point guard, who was born in Brooklyn, suffered a right tibia injury in March and hasn’t been able to end the NBA Regular Season after averaging 9.0 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists per game in 61 appearances.

The full list includes the newest Hapoel Tel Aviv addition John Holland, Markus Howard’s brother Jordan, who last played with Napoli in Italy, and Tremont Waters, who shared the court with Victor Wembanyama at Boulogne-Levallois Metropolitans 92.

The rest of the names: Ethan Thompson, Stephen Thompson, Phillip Wheeler, Aleem Ford, Isaiah Piñeiro, Justin Reyes, Christopher Ortiz, Ismael Romero, George Conditt IV, Timajh Parker-Rivera, and Arnaldo Toro. Puerto Rico is set to face Serbia, China, and South Sudan in Group B.
