During the Acropolis Tournament where Serbia first beat Greece 71-64 and then lost against Italy 89-88, Bogdan Bogdanovic took time to speak to Eurohoops, addressing the situation of players like Kemba Walker and the Hernangomez brothers, moving from the NBA to the EuroLeague.

“EuroLeague is a tough competition, and I’m happy for the guys who are embracing that and who are taking those challenging steps in their career. It will be fun to see how they are going to play in the EuroLeague”, the Atlanta Hawks shooting guard said.

Playing in Europe for seven years, first with Partizan Belgrade and then with Fenerbahce, Bogdan Bogdanovic averaged 12.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.1 steals per game in his EuroLeague career. Signing with the Sacramento Kings, he moved to the NBA in 2017.

He also talked about Kostas Sloukas, with whom he played in the Turkish yellow-and-blue powerhouse, winning the 2016-17 EuroLeague. “I know it’s difficult to talk about it. At the end of the day, we are professionals and I think he made the best decision for him”, Bogdanovic added.

“It’s always nice to come to Greece. The Acropolis Tournament is always tough, the invited teams are good and there’s always fun basketball. I’m happy with the progress we are making”, he stated. In his latest FIBA World Cup appearance with Serbia in 2019, the 30-year-old put up 22.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in 8 total appearances.
