Shai Gilgeous-Alexander scored 26 points in less than 20 minutes as Canada beat New Zealand 107 – 66 to register its first win in preparation games ahead of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
Gilgeous-Alexander shot 9-12 from the field, making short work of New Zealand’s defense. He also had six steals.
Nickeil Alexander-Walker contributed 13 points for Canada and eight rebounds while Kelly Olynyk dropped 13 points as well. RJ Barrett and Lou Dort finished with 11 points as well.
For New Zealand, Finn Delaney had 12 points and Yanni Wetzell scored 11.

Canada is still without Denver Nuggets star Jamal Murray since the team decided that he won’t be playing in any preparation games to better recover after an injury. The plan is that he will join his squad in Spain for a tournament held on 17-18 of August.
