Karl-Anthony Towns scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds as the Dominican Republic beat Canada 94 – 88 in a World Cup exhibition game and his first appearance with his national team as an adult.
In his return to the Dominican national team after 2013, Anthony-Towns produced 6-9 from the field, including 3-5 threes to push his squad. The Minnesota Timberwolves star also drained a pair of crucial free throws, making it 91 – 86 with 19 seconds remaining.
L.J. Figueroa dropped 20 points of his own while Angel Delgado had 10 points, 12 rebounds and five assists. While just a preparation game, this was quite the display for the Dominican side against a team led by prominent NBA talent that will aim for a podium spot in the upcoming World Championship.
