The Boomers got their last victory ahead of the 2023 FIBA World Cup

Beating Georgia 86-81 after landing in Okinawa, Japan to prepare for the Group Phase of the 2023 FIBA World Cup, the Australian national team concluded its friendly game path toward the most major international tournament of the year.

This was Australia’s latest friendly game victory after beating Venezuela 97-41, losing to Brazil 90-86, winning against South Sudan 88-67, and finally beating France 78-74. Georgia, instead, before this matchup had two defeats against Lithuania (104-102) and Latvia (82-57), while they were able to beat Jordan (86-69) and Montenegro (84-79).

At the 2023 FIBA World Cup starting on August 25, Australia will play against Finland, Germany, and Japan in the so-called “Group of Death” E in Japan. Georgia will play also play in Okinawa, potentially meeting the Boomers once again in the second phase if they advance through Group F against Slovenia, Venezuela, and Cape Verde.

Australia will have on board Xavier Cooks, Dyson Daniels, Dante Exum, Josh Giddey, Chris Goulding, Josh Green, Joe Ingles, Nick Kay, Patty Mills, Duop Reath, Matisse Thybulle, Jack White for the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Georgia, instead, will count on Rati Andronikashvil, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Kakhaber Jintcharadze, Luka Liklikadze, Giorgi Tsintsadze, Giorgi Shermadini, Duda Sanadze, Giorgi Turdziladze, Mikheil Berishvili, Tornike Shengelia, Thaddus McFadden, Goga Bitadze.
