Brazilian national team star guard Raul Neto suffered a rupture of his patellar tendon in his right knee and will miss the rest of the World Cup.
Neto was hurt early in the second half of the World Cup opener of his team against Iran during a drive attempt. The initial estimation of the medical staff was that he ruptured his and this fear was confirmed later when the player underwent medical examinations.
This was the first World Cup appearance from Neto since the 2016 Olympic Games. Earlier this summer, he signed a contract to play in EuroLeague with Turkish club Fenerbahce Beko.
