Canada scores 100 in 30, set World Cup assists record in rout over Lebanon

After their impressive win over France in the 2023 FIBA World Cup opener, Canada put on another show to crush Lebanon 128-73. You read that right, not a typo.

The final point difference was 55 points and the 44 assists dished by the Canadians are a new all-time FIBA World Cup record.

Canada was superior from the start to the end of the game and actually scored 100 points by the end of the third quarter. 10 of its players scored in double figures with RJ Barret leading the charge with his 17 points.

Trae Bell-Haynes had 15 points plus eight assists, Euroball veteran Melvin Ejim added 13 points while Kelly Olynyk had 12 points and eight boards.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander contributed 12 points, five assists, and five rebounds, since there wasn’t any need for him to do more.

As for Lebanon, Omari Spellman had 16 points, followed by Karim Zeinoun’s 15.
