MANILA, Philippines – Among numerous solid contributions from the bench, Marko Guduric tallied nine points, six assists, and three rebounds as Serbia marched past Lithuania into the Semifinals of the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
“I want to dedicate this win to our teammate,” he followed the general sentiment in the Serbia senior national team referring to Borisa Simanic losing a kidney due to an injury during the World Cup, “We will keep fighting like this until the last minute.”
Reserve players pouring in a total of 38 points was the necessary push for Serbia against Lithuania on Tuesday.
“That has been our strength from day one,” noted Guduric, “Guys coming from the bench, giving that extra energy.”
Team captain Bogdan Bogdanovic scored a game-high 21 points.
“Considering we were in the same situation against Italy, he gave a good speech about staying calm and staying together and playing smart,” he added commenting on the further contribution of the 31-year-old guard of the Atlanta Hawks, “That is the leadership we need. He is our captain.”
