Team USA brought together a relatively young team, filled with debutants at the international level for the 2023 FIBA World Cup, and ended up without a medal, losing to Canada in the match for third place.
Indiana Pacers‘ point guard, one of the players with the most assists in the previous NBA season, Tyrese Haliburton, wore the USA jersey for the first time, but he can’t be entirely happy with his first experience in the national team. Although he claims it was interesting to play FIBA basketball, and he felt honored to be given the chance.
“You want to end on a high note; we didn’t do that, so it’s obviously disappointing. But it was a fun experience. Every time you can play for the USA, it’s a privilege and an honor,” Haliburton said.
If nothing else, the USA secured their place for the 2024 Paris Olympics, and Haliburton is ready to help the national team again.
“100 percent. If they want me back, it’s a no-brainer for me.“
