As it was announced by the Slovenian basketball federation Bozidar Maljkovic will not continue as the coach of the national team for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. This is not exactly a surprise since the last weeks there have been many rumors about Boza leaving the team and as it turned out the Slovenians are already have made contacts with the possible heir of Maljkovic.
Jure Zdovc, former player of Maljkovic in Limoges and also former Slovenian national team coach during Eurobasket 2009, is the main favorite for a return to the bench of the national team. After leaving Spartak St. Petersburg last year, Zdovc remained unemployed.
