Many expected that this weekend after the FIBA central board meeting in Argentina, there would be an announcement about a short list for the “final pre-selection” of countries applying for a wild card for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. However, as it turned out that’s not the case.

FIBA decided not to exclude any of the 15 teams which applied for a wild card, the final selection will be announced on February and as it was expected. Until then Nigeria from Africa, Brazil, Canada and Venezuela from Americas, China and Qatar from Asia and nine teams from Europe, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Finland, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Poland, Russia and Turkey can hope for a wildcard.
