As it was reported on Tuesday Evgeny Pashutin is now officially the new coach of the Russian national team. Just one day after the qualification of his club, Lokomotiv Kuban, to Euroleague’s Top16 the Russian coach signed a three year contract with his national federation.

Pashutin, the winner of last season’s Eurocup, has the blessing of his club to this new adventure. He is currently considered the best coach of his nation and what remains to be seen is if Russia will get a wildcard for the upcoming FIBA World Cup. As he said: “It’s a great honor for me to be the coach of the national team. It’s not something new, I have been a coach of the junior teams and an assistant, but now the responsibility is much bigger. However, this is not a problem, it’s a motive”.
