As 2013 is coming to an end, the Serbian basketball federation presented the new coach of the country’s national team. The heir of Dusan Ivkovic is a legendary player, Sasha Djordjevic, a three times Eurobasket champion, one time World champion and also Olympic silver medalist. He was a true leader on the court, a great point guard and he has the tools to be also a great coach, even if his coaching experience so far is limited. Still, the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2014 is a great challenge and Djordjevic is used to perform under pressure.
Meanwhile in Greece, as the country is still waiting for FIBA’s decision concerning the World Cup wildcards, there are some good news for the Greek side. As it was announced there is already a contract signed between the organizers, pay TV channel OTE TV and free to air TV channel ANT1. They are the same companies which broadcasted the last Eurobasket after the Greek government decided to abolish ERT, the Greek national broadcasting company, in order to create a successor organization. The new contract is considered for obvious reasons a good sign about the chances of Greek national team getting a wild card.
