The Greek center of the Sacramento Kings spoke to the Greek newspaper “Real News” and said that he will be available for the national team whenever there’s possible even in the FIBA World Cup qualifying games.
“I want to be here whenever the national team needs me”, said Papagiannis. “I want this more than anything else, it’s the greatest honor and the biggest responsibility. I will take advantage of every break, I will give my whole in order to be here. It will be tough during the season. Still, I will try to get the approval by my team whenever it’s possible and play for the national team in order to qualify for the World Cup”.
Under the new FIBA calendar, World Cup qualification games will be played on November 2017, February 2018, June and July 2018 and September 2018. No NBA player will be able to play on November and February, but in theory, the same players will be able to compete in June, July, and September.
