Zvezdan Mitrovic was appointed head coach of the Montenegrin national team ahead of the World Cup qualifiers that begin on November 26.
He replaces Bogdan Tanjevic who was hired as a technical director for the Italian Federation.
The Montenegrin head coach is currently at the helm of Monaco BC that competes in both the French League (Pro A) and the Basketball Champions League.
Mitrovic, 47, had been an assistant in his country’s national team at the EuroBasket 2013 under Luka Pvicevic and head coach for the U21 national team.
Montenegro will face EuroBasket champions Slovenia, bronze medalists Spain and Belarus in Group A of the first round of the World Cup Qualifiers. Three teams from each Group advance to the next stage.
