Serbia won the silver medal in the Eurobasket 2017, losing to Slovenia in the final game. Head coach Sasha Djordjevic and Serbian point guard Stefan Jovic are now working together at their club Bayern Munich as well as in the National team.
The next step for the Sasa Djordjevic’s team is to qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Their first game in the Qualifiers is against Austria on November 24 in Belgrade.
“The most important thing is for us to qualify and it doesn’t matter which roster we have. The most important thing is to win the games and to make sure we are at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019,” said Jovic, in an interview with FIBA.
Jovic is excited ahead of playing in front of the Serbian crowd, in the country’s capital.
“I am looking forward to stepping on the court in these qualification games. It’s great to play for the national team and great to play in front of our crowd – also that I can go home and see my friends and family and see my teammates. Players always want to play for the national team. It’s a matter of pride.” Jovic concluded it.
