In the press conference after the Basketball Champions League game between Rosa Random and Strasbourg in Poland, coach Vincent Collet was asked by the local media about the upcoming FIBA World Cup qualification games and the issues that the French national team may encounter.
Collet was asked if the new system is unfair and his answer was the following: “It’s clearly unfair for the big countries and especially for us. Because we have so many NBA players in our team, more than anyone else and so many EuroLeague players. So for sure, it’s a very difficult situation and difficult to understand. We all love the basketball game, we all want for the best teams to be in the World Cup, but one or two big teams may not qualify to the World Cup and that’s not what the fans want”.
