The second day of FIBA World Cup is over and Eurohoops presents the important numbers and stats. Those include great offensive and defensive performances, surprises and disappointments, odds and ends of the stats sheets!
* The MVP title of the day belongs to Dominican Republic’s forward, Francisco Garcia, who had a 35 ranking against New Zealand!
* Australians were really confident against Korea. Their 57% precentage (8/14) in 3points is just great!
* Additionally, Australians had 21 offensive rebounds (47 total), three more than Korea’s total (18)!!
* Ukraine attempted more 3pointers (30) than 2pointers (24)!
* Croatia always has great 3-pointers shoters. Today, they attempted the most of all other teams (33). They made 13 (39%).
* Argentina in the two first days committed 16 turnovers, while Iran’s center, Hamed Haddadi has just 3 less (13).
* Finland’s guard, Petteri Koponen, and Ukraine’s star, Pooh Jeter, dished out 18 assists (9 assists each one), just two less than all the rest of their teammates (20).
* The bomber, the perfect and the zero! Slovenia’s guard, Zoran Dragic, was the bomber of the day with 4/4 3p, 4/4 2p, 2/2 FT. A total 8/8 FG looks perfect but it’s not the best performance of the day! Mexican’s forward/center, Gustavo Ayon attempted 9 FG and made all of them! On the other hand, New Zealand’s Robert Loe didn’t manage to score (0/6 FG).
* In both days USA’s opponents (Turkey and Finland) made 59 turnovers in total! So, the Americans already have a total of 35 steals in just two games!
* Argentina’s super star, Luis Scola, and Greece’s forward, Giorgos Printezis, attempted the most FG (19 each one).
* Revenge for Slovenian brothers against Gasol brothers! Zoran and Goran Dragic were great with 40 points, 4 rebounds, 8 assists, while Pau and Mark Gasol scored 20 points, with 8 rebounds and one assist.
* Gorgui Dieng (18p, 13r) and Andrey Blatsche (21p, 14r) proved to be the best “double-double” players! Both centers did it again. Additionally, that was the first day for Aron Baynes (13p, 10r) and Jonas Valanciunas (11p, 13r).
* Egypt’s 3points percentage (16%) is the worst after two days in FIBA World Cup.
