The fifth day of FIBA World Cup is over and Eurohoops presents the important numbers of the day. Those include great offensive and defensive performances, surprises and disappointments, odds and ends of the stats sheets! The crazy story of the 5th day is the new world record of Lithuanian team!
* “Double-Double” players of the day. Andray Blatche (25p, 14r), Isaac Fotu (10p, 10r), Hamed Hadadi (23p, 15r), Luis Scola (22p, 14r) and Giannis Bourousis (13p, 10r).
* Ricky Sanchez played 40 minutes against Philippines. Impressive.
* Lithuania didn’t earn any free throws in 40 minutes!!! That’s absolutely a negative record in World Cup’s history. Twice in past Angola earned 2 FT (1990, 1994), once Canada (1963) and Cuba (1986) but Lithuania is the first team ever which didn’t shot a FT during a game!
* Senegal’s 8% percentage in 3 points is the worst in this World Cup.
* Luis Scola attempted 17 FG (8/17) in 29 minutes.
* Angola’s bench scored 51 points against Slovenia! Really great number and more impressive than USA’s 56 points against Dominican Republic.
* Slovenia attempted more 3pointers (14/33, 42%) than 2pointers (17/28, 61%). It is not so strange as they are the second best team in 3points percentage (42,5%) in this tournament. Australia is the best so far with 50%!
* Nikos Zisis dished up 10 assists! Greece finished the game with 14 assist more than Croatia (23-9).
* Korea scored 4 points in third quarter but there is an even worse offensive performance, as Finland back at the 1st day scored only 2 points in second quarter against USA.
* Lithuania grabbed 20 rebounds more than Korea (42-22) and their offensive rebounds were almost the same with Korea’s defensive (17-18). There is even better number. New Zealand had 23 boards more (48-25) than Ukraine!
* Shooting stats! Donatas Motiejunas attempted 10 2points and made 9! On the other hand Jonas Maciulis didn’t manage to score (0/6 FG). Additionally, Jose Juan Barea earned 12 FT and made 11 (92%).
