Amedeo Della Valle scored a new international career-high 29 points as Italy crushed Romania 101 – 50 in Cluj and punched its ticket to the next round of the World Cup Qualifiers.
The “Azzurri” were dominant from start to finish, overpowering their opponents 12- 35 in the first quarter and then simply cruising to the victory that kept them undefeated in Group D after four games.
Della Valle led the charge by setting a new record with the national team and breaking the previous one he had notched in the World Cup Qualifiers 80 – 64 win over Croatia two in November when he had dropped 25 points.
Romania fell to 2-2 with this loss. Emanuel Cate was their top performer with 15 points plus 9 rebounds.
