Slovenia will compete in the third FIBA World Cup qualifiers “window” against Spain and Montenegro at home. The games are scheduled for the 28th of June and the 1st of July, just a few days after the end of the Spanish league finals and the NBA finals.
Considering the fact that due to the Spanish League finals Doncic is not expected to attend the draft, it seems possible that he may have to be in the States during the two upcoming national team games with Slovenia.
However, his heart is with the national team, which he led together with Goran Dragic last September to its first ever Eurobasket gold.
In a message that it was published on the Slovenian basketball federation twitter, Doncic said the following: “Hello fans, in three weeks we will play against Spain and Montenegro. I would love to wear the Slovenian jersey again if I can and I hope to be there. I hope “Stozice Arena” to be full and the fans to support us like they did in Istanbul in the final round of the Eurobasket 2017. Thank you”.
