Russian national team preliminary list consisting of 16 players who will be preparing for the upcoming World Cup Qualifiers in September was announced.
Head coach Sergey Bazarevich will count on these players:
Evgeny Baburin (Lokomotiv Kuban, 31, 189 cm), Dmitry Kulagin (Lokomotiv Kuban, 26, 195 cm), Mikhail Kulagin (CSKA Moscow, 23, 191 cm), Ivan Ukhov (CSKA Moscow, 22, 193 cm), Vitaly Fridzon (Lokomotiv Kuban, 32, 195 cm), Dmitry Khvostov (Lokomotiv Kuban, 28, 190 cm), Alexey Shved (Khimki, 29, 198 cm), Semyon Antonov (CSKA Moscow, 29, 202 cm), Nikita Balashov (without club, 27, 207 cm), Petr Gubanov (Khimki, 31, 207 cm), Andrey Zubkov (Khimki, 27, 205 cm), Sergey Karasev (Zenit St. Petersburg, 24, 201 cm), Nikita Kurbanov (CSKA, 31, 202 cm), Vladimir Ivlev (Lokomotiv Kuban, 28, 207 cm), Artem Klimenko (UNICS Kazan, 24, 214 cm), Timofey Mozgov (the Orlando Magic, 32, 216 cm).
Two more players are on the reserve list: Eugene Valiev (Zenit St. Petersburg, 28, 205 cm) and Stanislav Ilnitskiy (Lokomotiv Kuban, 24, 200 cm).
The squad will meet in Novogorsk on August 26th and will train there until September 5th. Then the team will go to St. Petersburg, where they will participate in an international tournament.
In the second round of World Cup Qualifiers, Russia will play on the road against the Czech Republic on September 13th in Pardubice and on September 16th they will host Bulgarian national team.
