Lauri Markkanen won’t be joining the Finnish National Team for the September windows of the FIBA World Cup, as mentioned on susijengi.
The Finnish big man was included in the team’s 27-man preliminary squad, though he had prior explained his decision not to join the team anew in September for the games against Bosnia and Herzegovina and France.
“Representing the national team has always been an honor for me. I always find it wonderful to play in the national team with familiar friends and in front of the world’s best fans. [..] This time, the dates of World Cup qualifiers are unfortunately bad for [NBA] preparation”, Markkanen told Yle Sports a few days prior.
