Furkan Korkmaz and Cedi Osman displayed once again why they should be considered the leaders of the new era of the Turkish national team.
They both combined for 43 points, as Turkey beat Germany 100 – 79 in the second semifinal of the preparation tournament “VTB Supercup”, held in Hamburg.
Korkmaz scored 23 points in 22 minutes with 6/8 3-pointers, and Osman 20 (4/8 3-pointers, 24 minutes) points, countering some major fiery action of Dennis Schroder. The Oklahoma City Thunder guard scored 32 points and dished out 14 (!) assists in 30 minutes, but his game didn’t cut it for Germany that suffered big time in the final period.
Turkey was vastly superior in the fourth quarter, overpowering its opponents 30 – 11 to ultimately rout its opponents.
Apart from Korkmaz and Osman, Ilyasova had 17 points, eight rebounds, and six assists in 29 minutes. For Germany, Maik Zirbes scored 15 points in 28 minutes and Maxi Kleber 12 in the 28 minutes he spent on the court.
