Alexey Shved scored 20 points, dished out five assists and grabbed four rebounds as Russia beat Poland 88 – 68 in the teams’ latest prep game ahead of Round 2 of World Cup Qualifiers.
Mateusz Ponitka had 19 points plus nine rebounds for Poland that couldn’t match its opponents’ strength. Aaron Cel also scored 12 points.
Apart from Shved, Vladimir Ivlev dropped 13 points in 12 minutes and Sergey Karasev added 12 points.
Russia will face the Czech Republic and Bulgaria on September 13 and 16 respectively, while Poland will play vs. Italy (September 14) and Croatia (September 17).
