With just seconds remaining in the World Cup Qualifiers game between the Czech Republic and Russia, and the score 78 – 78, Tomas Satoransky took matters into his own hands.
The Washington Wizards guard drove to the basket and dropped a beautiful floater to put his team up 80 – 78. Alexey Shved missed a 3-point attempt on the other end, and the Czech national team got a precious victory that improves their Group K record to 6 – 1 and brings them very close to a World Cup ticket.

Satoransky was the protagonist overall for his team and not just the last-second hero. He delivered 16 points, eight rebounds and six assists for a team-high 18 PIR and together with Jaromir Bohacik (18 points) and Blake Schilb (13 points), he led the Czech team to a big-time win.
For Russia, Dmitry Khostov had 18 points and Alexey Shved 14 points (4/15 f.g.). Sergey Bazarevich’s team dropped to the 3-4 and the fourth spot in the Group.
