The second round of the European FIBA World Cup qualifiers started with a huge upset. Behind 16 points by Dimitar Dimitrov, Bulgaria beat France 74-68, despite 17 points by Nicolas Batum.
“Les Bleus” are now tied on the top of Group K with the Czech Republic, which beat Russia by a bucket thanks to Tomas Satoransky. Finland is third in the group thanks to this result and also thanks to beating Bosnia 85-81, despite 20 points and 9 rebounds by Portland’s Jusuf Nurkic.
In Group L, Greece after beating Serbia and Germany with the 86-43 win over Estonia (Schroder 18 p. 10 as., Kleber 11 p.) remain perfect with a 7-0 record and have all but sealed their ticket to the World Cup. Serbia remains third and Georgia is just behind them after the 85-80 win in Israel (Shengelia 22 p., Janning 15 p.).
