Bulgaria beat France 74-68 on Thursday, despite 17 points by Nicolas Batum, and sounded the alarm for “Les Bleus”. Batum reflects on the game and how France should react from now on.
“We have to get back to work. We have two days before the next game. So this has to be a good wake-up call for us,” Batum told FIBA. “If we don’t play good team basketball, we can lose against anyone. Anyone can beat us.”
“We were not ready for them. That doesn’t mean we underestimated them. Everything that happened tonight we expected it. We’re not surprised about anything. We should have done a better job”, Batum concluded.
France will have the chance to bounce back from the loss when they host Finland in Montpellier this Sunday.
