Khimki guard Alexey Shved joined the Russian national team for the 4th window of FIBA World Cup Qualifiers helping them record one win and loss with 38 points scored in total.
However, due to the overlapping of FIBA and EuroLeague schedules, there is a high possibility that Russia will have to finish the WC Qualifiers without Shved and he expressed his disliking of the situation the players are put in:
“I also hope that we will qualify. Will I play for the national team during the season? Let’s see how it works out. I would like to play for both the club and the national team, but it’s not for me to decide. We will think about this together with the leadership of Khimki and communicate with the team. We were put in such a situation that we have to choose between the club and the national team. It shouldn’t be like that.”, Shved explained, per Russian Basketball Federation official website.
