They say better late than never. That’s the case for Serbia that got a 97-76 victory over Israel to move to China’s big stage as they punched their ticket on Sunday.
Vladimir Lucic paced the Aleksandar Djordjevic-coached side with 22 points, Dragan Milosavljevic finished the night with 20 points, while Milos Teodosic fell just short of a double-double with 11 points and 9 assists.
For Israel, Deni Avdija, whose father Zufer called the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall home for much of his playing days, had 10 points.
Earlier in the day, Russia also sealed its ticket for the big event with a win over Finland.
Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Spain, and Turkey are the nations that have already qualified.
