Ben Simmons committed to the FIBA World Cup campaign in August and September this year with an announcement he made on his social media on Wednesday.
“I’d also like to announce I will be a Boomer for the upcoming events so stay tuned,” Simmons said.
The Boomers have an open-door policy for their NBA players, standing in support of them while keeping them close at the same time. This has helped Simmons rejoin the selection.
“The important thing is to have a conversation, a relationship and let them know we love them and the door is open and when you are ready to step through it we will welcome you with open arms,” coach Andrej Lemanis said, per theage.com. “What can we do for you? What do you need from us? There is never any pressure on it. The environment has changed even in my time with it as in the number of guys in that NBA landscape and all the challenges that come with being in that environment, the media scrutiny, the pressure from the NBA clubs and what sponsors need.”
