Following the 2018-19 season, which marked his tenth NBA campaign, Danilo Gallinari switched targets concentrating on the 2019 FIBA World Cup and representing Italy. “It’s huge that the National Team gets back to playing against the very best from all over the world” he mentioned to Corriere dello Sport, FIBA relays.

“We want to do great, and this hasn’t changed since we started wearing the Azzurri jersey. It won’t sound new to anyone, but every athlete dreams and will forever dream about playing for his or her country” the 30-year-old forward of the Los Angeles Clippers said as well.

Italy will go against Philippines, Angola and Serbia in the first round of the World Cup set to kick off on August 31st at China. “We can’t make promises now. We’re still months away, we’ll see when it’s time to go on the court, how competitive we can be against our opponents. To advance after the group phase is a must for us and for Serbia, since two teams qualify, but we will need to stay focused every game. We have to respect Philippines and Angola, too.”
