Philadelphia 76ers star Ben Simmons is reportedly ‘doubtful’ to play for Australia in the FIBA World Cup this summer.
Per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Simmons is more likely now to spend his full offseason preparing only for the Sixers season, free of national team responsibilities.
The Boomers acknowledged the reports and released a statement with a few quotes of head coach Andrej Lemanis, who “has not been advised definitively if Simmons is out of the Boomers squad”.
“The reality of the professional basketball environment is that being available to play for the national team is fluid for all our players”, Lemanis tells as written in the press release.
