Six-time All-Star forward/center Anthony Davis won’t play in 2019 World Cup tournament held in China (31/8 – 15/9), per a report by Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.
Davis has decided to skip the World Cup in order to spend most of the summer getting ready for the upcoming season with the L.A. Lakers. The 26-year-old big guy was acquired by Lakers earlier this month following a trade with the New Orleans Pelicans.
While Davis won’t participate in the World Cup, he still plans to play in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. He was a member of the Team USA squad that won the gold medal in the 2012 Olympics and 2014 World Cup.
