New Orleans Pelicans guard JJ Redick is the latest Team USA player to skip the World Cup. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Redick has turned down the invitation to attend the training camp for the tournament despite his “tremendous desire” to participate.

Team USA has suffered a rain of absences since the announcement of the 20-man preliminary roster for the World Cup. James Harden (Houston Rockets), Eric Gordon (Houston Rockets), Damian Lillard (Portland Trail Blazers), CJ McCollum (Portland Trail Blazers), Anthony Davis (L.A. Lakers), Bradley Beal (Washington Wizards) and Tobias Harris (Philadelphia 76ers), and Demar DeRozan (Toronto Raptors) have all withdrawn from participating in the training camp.

Six players were invited to fill the vacant spots on the roster of Team USA. Charania reports that L.A. Clippers forward/center Montrezl Harrell will be unable to attend the training camp.
