Juanco Hernangomez will go into battle at the FIBA World Cup in China with Marc Gasol, a member of Spain’s title-winning squad at the World Cup in Japan 13 years ago.
For the 23-year-old forward, this marks both an honor, and an opportunity to get better.
“Marc is a leader, an example, and one of the best players in the history of Spanish basketball,” Hernangomez mentions on FIBA.basketball. “Having him with us is such a great thing, and we, the young guys, are always learning from players like Marc, and it’s priceless to share time and be in the same team.”
“He had a great season. I followed, closely, what he did and he is such an impactful player. He’s won everything with La Roja, and he’s still looking for more titles and medals. He knows so much about the game, and he knows how to help the team on both ends of the floor. He wants to win and his energy is very positive for the group.”
“It’s a blessing to have guys like this on a team, and you can only embrace the possibility of learning and improving with talented players like them,” Hernangomez added. “They have experience, talent and they have won so much with the national team, and they’re great examples as guys that inspire for all of us.
