Evan Fournier scored 29 points – 21 of them in the second half – and registered a new personal best with the French national team which ultimately prevailed over Italy by two points (82-80) in a prep game for the upcoming FIBA World Cup.
Fournier was the star of the show, and France built a 56-42 lead at the start of the second half. Italy was trailing just by one (39-38) at halftime, and the bounced back.
With less than five minutes left, Gigi Datome made it a two-point game (69-67), and the game ended up being a dogfight decided in the free-throw line.
Marco Belinelli with 20 points, Danilo Gallinari with 15 and Alessandro Gentile with 14 did their best for Italy, but it was not enough.
