Russia put on a strong third quarter against Spain and recorded a convincing 74-55 win in the last prep game for the two teams in front of the 2019 FIBA World Cup in China.
Vitaly Fridzon led the victors with 14 points followed by Andrey Zubkov’s 11 and Grigory Motovilov’s ten points.
Despite the loss, Spain’s Willy Hernangomez stole the spotlight with game-high 26 points while his brother Juancho Hernangomez helped with 12 points. Marc Gasol didn’t play due to stomach problems while Rudy Fernandez rested.
After a tied first quarter (21-21), Russia went ahead 32-27 at halftime. But it was after the break that they decided the game as they improved the lead to 59-40 in front of the final period and kept the distance for the win.
