Andrey Vorontsevich didn’t hide his feelings for the referees after the win over Nigeria. The result was not enough for the Russian forward who spoke to the “RIA Novosti” news agency on the matter.
And he was furious and a bit ironic: “To be honest, the referees were completely out of place and time. Their calls didn’t make any sense. Excuse me, gentlemen referees, but I don’t have the best of opinions for referees who suck. They probably don’t know how basketball is played in Europe, where some contacts are allowed. We’re men. We don’t have volleyball, where there’s a net between players. You have to understand that basketball is a contact sport. I believe they will adapt to the requirements during the tournament. I have faith in you, dear referees”.
