Sasha Djordjevic spoke to the Serbian press following the game against the Philippines and criticized the competition system of FIBA World Cup, as mentioned on sportskacentrala.com.
“I don’t know what they want to achieve with this system. There are 12 teams to lose with a huge difference. Losing two games by 40, 50 points is certainly not good and does not help those national teams. We have our quality, we played our fairest and that’s the difference”, commented Djordjevic.
The Serbian NT coach also talked about fair play in such tough defeats, in the wake of the incident that took place earlier on Monday between Italy and Angola (Angola’s Leonel Paulo headbutted Alessandro Gentile towards the end of the game and got ejected).
“I don’t like dirt. You saw the Angola player against Italy. I would not like one of our players to leave the rotation due to a nasty play like that”, he mentioned.
