Montenegro suffered defeat by New Zealand in a game full of technical calls (four for the Euros’ bench). Coach Zvezdan Mitrovic was ejected from the game before halftime and had to watch the rest of the game unable to help his players and was caustic in the press conference that followed the game.
“It’s very difficult to comment about basketball tonight. I hope somebody will [address] consequences about this officiating tonight”, was Mitrovic’s remark on the game.
When asked about the feeling in the locker room, Montenegro’s coach mentioned: “The guys in the locker room felt like they’ve been robbed. They didn’t feel they were losing the game, they felt that somebody stole it. We are a small country, I understand, first time in the World Cup. You know, we need somebody to respect us, a little bit”.
“Tonight the roles were different. We had three men in grey playing the important role, and 10 guys who stayed around and waited for the decisions”, he concluded.
