Team USA just barely came out on top against Turkey after overtime in their second FIBA World Cup game, but they had more significant concerns after Jayson Tatum exited the floor near the end due to an injury.
The official update on Tatum’s injury revealed that he suffered a left ankle sprain and that he will be re-evaluated tomorrow. Tatum said his ankle is already feeling better. He left the arena wearing a shoe but didn’t have a bad limp, per Brian Windhorst.
According to Gary Washburn, about 20 minutes after his ankle injury, Jayson Tatum texted Brad Stevens, who is in Boston, and told him the damage didn’t appear to be serious.
The USA advanced to the Second Round of the tournament but before it still has the game against Japan on September 5th.
