Jayson Tatum will miss USA’s next two games in the 2019 FIBA World Cup and will be re-evaluated in five days, according to USA Basketball, reporter Marc Stein relays. Team USA is forced to move forward one player short at China.
The 21-year-old forward of the Boston Celtics picked up the left ankle sprain late in Tuesday’s exciting contest between USA and Turkey. His national team eventually prevailed in overtime.
The timeline set forces Gregg Popovich to only have 11 players available on Friday versus Japan in the last round of Group E. Tatum will also miss the first Group K game at Shenzhen against Greece or New Zealand and will be re-evaluated before the match with Brazil on September 9th.
