In a game of no significant difference for either team (already disqualified from the FIBA World Cup second round), Canada prevailed over Senegal with an 82-60 victory in the city of Dongguan.

We got the chance to play against two of the best teams in the world, we had great stretches against Lithuania and Australia“, commented Nick Nurse on Canada’s run in the tournament.

Cory Joseph led the winners with 24 points, three assists, and two rebounds, while Kevin Pangos contributed 13 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Senegal challenged their opponents in the first period, starting off the game with a 22-11 advantage, though Canada quickly recovered in the second with its usual long-range shooting and even got a 33-32 lead before heading to the lockers at halftime.

The second half turned completely into Canada’s favor, as Joseph and Pangos took charge from beyond the arch, placing their team ahead by 59-46 at the end of the third quarter. The final period turned out to be a scoring feast for Canada, that had the chance to try out its entire rotation, with each player contributing points.

On the other hand, Senegal will go out with a 0-3 record in Group H, despite a 14-point effort by Mouhammad Faye.
