The game that decided the winner of Group H turned out to be in Australia’s favor, that prevailed over Lithuania with an 87-82 victory in the city of Dongguan. Both teams head into the next round where they will face France and the Dominican Republic in Group L.

“Ι think it’s a good time to acknowledge the assistant coaches and the amount of work they put in the scouting and the development of the gameplan, and also the effort of the players. They secured that sort of gameplan. Now that we got through this pool, it’s really good cause it helps in tough games ahead”, commented Andrej Lemanis after the game.

The Boomers were paced by Patty Mills and Aaron Baynes, who scored 23 and 21 points respectively while holding up their team’s morale with clutch plays towards the end.

Australia entered the game in a storming way, dropping 27 points in the first period. While they dominated the first half 52-41, the Lithuanian squad didn’t give up until the end. In fact, they even grabbed the lead with Edgaras Ulanovas (6 points) making the score 75-74.

Marius Grigonis led Lithuania’s efforts with 19 points and three rebounds, as his team finished the first round with a 2-1 record.
