Korea had a 71-70 lead with one minute left, but China in front of its home fans had to do something. The hosts of the tournament finished the game with a 7-2 run and got the 77-73 win.
Guo Ailun with five of those seven points was the key and finished the game with 16 points. Zhao Rui also had 16, and Zhou Qui with a double-double (13 p. 14 r.) proved that the new generation of China could have a better future.
Yi Jianlian was limited to eight points and nine rebounds and the game was close from wire to wire. Naturalized forward Ra Guna once more was Korea’s main firepower with 21 points and 15 rebounds, and any result was possible in a really close game.
The home crowd, however, and China pride’s prevailed in the end. The winners are now tied on the top of Group M with Nigeria, having both a 2-2 record.
