New Zealand completed the 2019 FIBA World Cup with a 102 – 101 win over Turkey. The “Tall Blacks” finished first in Group O of the classification stage with 3-2 while Turkey was placed second with 2-3.
The match was a thriller in the last minute. Cedi Osman scored a tough go-ahead jump shot for Turkey, making it 101 – 100 with 35 seconds to play and registering his 32nd point in the match. On the other end, Isaac Fotu responded with a hook shot from inside the paint. It was the game-winner since Osman didn’t score in his team’s last offense.
Fotu finished with 17 points and five rebounds while Rob Loe dropped 17 points in 14:22 for the “Tall Blacks”. Apart from Osman, Melih Mahmutoglu stood out from Turkey with 27 points.
