Dennis Schroder was one assist away from the first triple-double in FIBA World Cup history as he led Germany to an 82-76 win over Canada.

Schroder banked 21 points while also grabbing ten rebounds, dishing nine assists and stealing the ball three times. Maximilian Kleber scored 20 points in addition to Robin Benzing’s 12 points.

Germany finished the Classification Round with a 3-2 record in Group P in front of Canada with 2-3.

For Canada, Kyle Wiltjer scored 18 points followed by Khem Birch’s 15  and Melvin Ejim’s nine points. Birch also grabbed nine and Ejim eight boards.

Germany had a 17-12 lead after ten minutes and a 36-33 lead at halftime. It seemed as though Canada will turn it around in their favor since they grabbed a 52-41 advantage after the break but Germany quickly recovered and tied the score (56-56) in front of the final ten minutes.

They kept the momentum, didn’t allow Canada to grab the lead at all during the fourth quarter and finished strong in the crunch time for the win.
