France has to face team USA for a do-or-die matchup ahead of the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals. Head coach Vincent Collet is well-aware of the situation and he explains on L’Equipe:
“I asked them not to lower their heads in the locker room because we have to bounce back very quickly. We will obviously not be favorites against the United States, the strongest team in this competition, but until proven otherwise, we are alive”, mentioned Collet.
“The Americans are masters in fast-paced games. We’ll have to oppose this and to have a chance to oppose it, it will take legs. We will try the impossible feat. We know what this match represents”, the French coach added.
The USA has yet to lose an official FIBA game since facing Greece at the 2006 FIBA World Cup, so that makes it a bigger challenge for the French to overcome in order to move to the quarterfinals.
